Parmar: The Crafting of Himachal – Becoming a Part C State
This book is an attempt by the authors to paint a picture of the historical events that led to the formation of Himachal Pradesh, with special focus on the role Dr Parmar played in this saga. This volume has been divided into three parts. Part I The first chapter will deal with the integration of princely states and Himachal becoming a Chief Commissioner’s state. The focus, primarily, would be on Dr Parmar’s role. The second chapter will deal with Dr Parmar’s time at the Constituent Assembly and then the Provisional Parliament. It will highlight Dr Parmar’s speeches, and his advocacy for Himachal’s welfare and statehood. Thankfully, the speeches in the Parliament and the Constituent Assembly have been completely digitised, conserving them for posterity. Some important speeches have been reproduced in the appendices. The third chapter will deal with Himachal becoming a Part C state, the first elections, and Dr Parmar becoming the first Chief Minister. Part II The second part contains articles written by Dr Parmar, which were published in various newspapers and magazines at the time. These articles were unearthed after carefully sifting through old newspapers, many of them now unavailable, and they bring to light Dr Parmar’s vision and ideas for Himachal. Part III The third part contains personal letters written by Dr Parmar to his Son, Luv. Dr Parmar wrote on many topics, from agriculture to the propriety of public office. These letters highlight that at his heart he was a caring and loving father.
Dr. YS Parmar – Mass Leader : An Apostle of Honesty and Integrity
This book, compiled by retired professor Dr. Rajender Attri, contains letters written by Dr. Parmar to his son Luv Parmar. These rare letters span a variety of topics. In one of the letters, Dr. Parmar can be seen instructing his son to construct a gaushala with just Rs. 1000, and in another, expressing his inability to buy a pair of cricket boots for his son. The love Dr. Parmar had for the state of Himachal Pradesh is heart warming and these letters show an intimate look into the personal and political life of Himachal Nirmata. The book has been published by Sarla Publications, and it also contains a foreword written by Sh. Shanta Kumar. The book has been published in both Hindi and English.
Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar : A Political Biography
The book is inspired by the huge and unique contributions made by Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar in the creation and shaping of a district political society known as Himachal Pradesh. The book is primarily historical and analytical in approach. It traces the distinct approach and sustained efforts of Dr. Parmar, entirely devoted to the creation of a separate entity of Himachal Pradesh within the Indian Union. This book is a good read for academicians who want to know more about Dr. Parmar’s life.
